In 2011, the Monfort Investment Group purchased the Casper Ghosts and made the move from Central Wyoming to Western Colorado for the 2012 season, changing the name from Ghost to Rockies.

This new team in town is part of the Pioneer League. They play at Suplizio Field near CMU.

Rivals in the league include the Orem Owlz, the Ogden Raptors and Missoula Osprey.
